Tau or Pi?

Michael Hartl, a physicist thinks pi is not necessary, and that instead of using the diameter and circumference of a circle, that we should be using the radius, and getting the number Tau. The radius of a circle is used more frequently than the diameter. Should we celebrate "Tau day" on June 28?
